AGING GRACEFULLY AND SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS
The Manor Village Life Centers
Dr. M. Garth Mann, the founder of The Manor Village Life Centers believes health and wellness is based at home… this is why he built the first Manor Village over 25 years ago.
In 1991 Garth Mann’s mother Garth Mann’s mother was living alone, missing being with people and finding that her mobility was decreasing. She wasn’t eating well as it was too much trouble to cook for one and getting groceries was often challenging. She told her son, that she was ready to move to a supportive care center; however, she emphatically stated that she was only 86 years young, and she would not accept living in a government nursing home for “old people”. Dr Mann searched the city of Calgary, only to discover that nothing would suit the needs of his aging mother. Like any good son, he decided to build the first Manor Village Life Center — designing it to better accommodate her needs.
Over the years, The Manor Village Life Centers have evolved into Aging in Place communities including options for more advanced care, dementia care and even respite and palliative care. Our beautiful, fully accessible suites with full kitchens and underground parking are perfect for the independent senior who wants a maintenance-free lifestyle; however, if you find you need help as you grow older; caring, skilled staff are there to help.

The Academy of Aging is a non-profit Canadian Society that focuses on the Dynamics for Healthy Aging through the prevention of Chronic Health Diseases, that often result in premature aging and memory loss with aging.
The Dynamics for Healthy Aging
The human body is without a doubt, the finest instrument—facility—equipment—computer—tool—or whatever you wish to call it; that could ever be created. It is unlikely man will ever be able to create the capacity of man, without the male and female genetic interaction.
If you respect your body—mind—spirit, you have an excellent opportunity for longevity beyond 80 and even 90 and perhaps 100 years young.
The Formula
There are only 4 PILLARS or recommendations for living a long and cheerful life, that regretfully, most people tend to ignore. Many people feel that since health care is paid by our Canadian Provinces, good health is the government’s responsibility. Why take blame for your lifestyle if your primary care doctor can prescribe medications? After all, since healthcare is FREE, it must have no value. RIGHT or WRONG?
PILLAR 1
Your body and mind cannot respond well to the aging process without a daily stretch & flex mobility program, involving a planned sequence to prep your body & mind for exercise.
ONLY 35 MINUTES EVERY MORNING
PILLAR 2
Your body and mind need to be fed with nourishing foods that you can metabolize or digest, that is based on your age and genetic factors.
PREPARE YOUR CUISINE ONE DAY IN ADVANCE
PILLAR 3
Your body & mind cannot be abused with excessive PHARMA. A solution to healthy aging & preserving memory involves de-stressing, not less than once per day.
GETTING IN THE SLEEP-ZONE INVOLVES UNWINDING BEFORE SLEEP
PILLAR 4
Social activities, mind stimulating entertainment, being creative with arts and crafts or music, or studying a new language, engaging in your favorite sporting activity, all enhance the neural pathways to our brain.
Mental stimulation by associating with friends and associates keeps our minds active. Continue to learn new activities throughout life to avoid anxiety and depression, leading to dementia.
The goal is not to expect that you can avoid all illnesses and viral flus. The purpose is to recover faster because you have protected and enhanced your body and mind with a strong immune system. You enjoy your life through the people that you want to socialize with.
The dynamics for healthy aging, is recognizing that most chronic health conditions including some cancer are co-morbidities towards dying.
Surviving a virus such as Covid-19 is preventable by following the 4 Pillars.
